From a teacher in the Nashville area, supposedly:

"We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he received parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now it was Olivia's turn to speak. Her speech was concise.

She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely could have said more... She did not have to .. A discussion followed.

How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it?

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone --- that they have not first taken away from someone else...

Tea Parties Extremist?

The same Homeland Security Department office that categorized veterans as potential terrorists issued an earlier report that defined dozens of "extremists" ranging from black power activists to abortion foes. The report was nixed within hours and recalled from state and local law enforcement officials.

Here is one definition of interest:

(U) tax resistance movement (U//FOUO) Groups or individuals who vehemently believe taxes violate their constitutional rights. Among their beliefs are that wages are not income, that paying income taxes is voluntary, and that the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which allowed Congress to levy taxes on income, was not properly ratified. Members have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism in an attempt to advance their extremist goals. They often target government entities such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. (also: tax protest movement, tax freedom movement, antitax movement)

This was a comment I made on a thread here and at INSIGHT on Freedom, I have thought about it and I believe this needs to be a bit more than a comment...

Weak minded individuals got Obama elected, and the weakest of the weak was the GOP/RNC that thought Gramps McLame and Northwoods Barbie could get the job done…

The RNC/GOP is the biggest enemy Conservatism faces today! The Dems blow Conservatives off, they call us *Teabaggers*, using their crude sexual reference to the word as a disparaging description. Until the Dems and the moonbat left started using Teabagging as disparaging remake, I had never heard a reference made of that description. Leave it to the loony left, and folks of that nature, to bastardize an innocent word. Look at today's definition of gay!

The RNC/GOP blows Conservatives off until election time, then they kiss our asses and make promises that can’t be kept. The RNC knows, they can't get anyone elected without the Conservative vote. The RNC is as far from being Conservative as is the DNC, but they still pretend, they still cajole, they still BS their way into the wallets of those that just don't know the difference! The RNC/GOP needs to be called exactly what they are, Dem-Lite!

This idea wasn’t stolen by me, I am not plagiarizing the ideas of others, I hatched a bunch of this. I am DONE with the RNC/GOP, they have rendered themselves irrelevant. We must have a real Conservative party and here's why.

If Michael Steele is an example of RNC Conservatism, the RNC is sunk. If we can’t offer up real Conservative Americans as candidates, if ALL the RNC/GOP can garner is the old, weak-assed examples they have lately, we, as a nation, are sunk!

A viable 3rd party is needed, desperately, and I don’t mean some revamped Libertarian, wannabe Republican BS like we’ve seen with Ron Paul and his bunch of merry moonbats.

A 3rd party is needed NOW! The TEA Party may not be the end all be all, but it’s a start, one that I am proud to be attached to!

America NEEDS a Third Party… NOW!

We have heard it said that a third party in America doesn’t stand a chance and that the only hope for conservatives is to stay in the Republican Party and work to change it.

Although, that is a good argument, I hold that it is wrong.

Look, we conservatives have been in the Republican Party in vast numbers since at least the Nixon Administration and we have ALWAYS been treated as the “red-headed-step child.” They tolerate us, so they can get our votes every couple of years, and once the ballots are cast, we are shoved back into the basement and out of sight. I can’t speak for you, but I’m tired of it.

It is correct, I believe, that a conservative party will not elect anyone to the Congress or to the White house for a few years, maybe a couple of decades, even, but, here’s the thing, as I see it. As a stand-alone party, we will take a huge chunk of the numbers from the GOP… and a few from the dems. So, when there is a major push on by one party, or the other, to pass a piece of legislation, they are going to need our support to get it done. That means they will have to court us, to woo us, if you will. That alone will give us the voice, and the influence; we do not have, as of today, in the way our government is run.

There is much to be said for being a member of a political party of which one can be proud. Ok. So we don’t have our own congressman/woman, or senator, or president for a while. Do we have one now???, I mean REALLY?

I have been a Republican since I registered on my 21st birthday in South Carolina. I am now 68 years old. (Even before I was old enough to register to vote I was out beating the bushes for Strom Thurman.) When Thurman went Republican, so did South Carolina.

I am ashamed of what the GOP has become. I know it is trite, but it IS true that there is almost no difference between the dems and repubs anymore. That is NOT good for the country. That is why, if for no other reason, a third party is so badly needed. The American electorate NEEDS an alternative to the two old, stale, parties. They have led this country into socialism and that is the “death knell” for democracy.

The Tea Parties, held across America, were, and are, an excellent way to forge a foundation of like-mined Americans interested in rescuing America from the clutches of the socialists who now have a strangle hold on our government, financial system, our auto industry, and soon… our healthcare industry. When do we say enough is enough and begin to fight back. Waiting on the GOP to fight the socialists is wasted time. It is not going to happen. No, the rescue of America must be done from a separate platform, not the republican platform.

It has been said that the Democrats and the Republicans, the two major parties in America, construct such formidable barriers to third parties that third party voting occurs only under extreme circumstances. Well, look around you; if current circumstances aren’t “extreme” in America today… then I don’t know the meaning of “extreme.”

There is no question the republicans and the democrats will throw everything they have at a third party, erect every kind of barrier they can to block that party’s way, and make every effort to steal (They would call it “co-opting”) popular ideas and positions of a third party. It has proven, over the years, to be an effective way to stifle a third party.

On the other hand we can sit back and watch our beloved country go the way of so many others through out history, and that is… to rest atop the ash heap of said history, or, we can TRY to save her.
One of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, once said: "My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!” Mr. Jefferson was correct then… and… he could make that same statement today and be just as correct.

I hope we conservatives will not allow our country to remain in the hands of the socialists now in charge. For socialism, like a disease, eats away at the soul of a country until that country dies.

The next few years are going to be hellish for conservatives as we watch the slow agonizing death of our country. We can sit on the sidelines and watch; we can remain in the Republican Party and hope for change within the GOP, (That option, I’m afraid is the same as sitting on the sidelines and watching!) or, we can TRY to create a third party, a “rescue” party, if you will, and make an effort, at least, to save this country we love so much.

What will it be, conservatives? What will it be?

The TEA Party? Why the hell not?

For quite a long time I have been told that a 3rd party is out of the question. I want to know WHY?? Is that simply the words of *defeatists* that are afraid to try something new??

I have been told that we can't HAVE a 3rd party and that our only hope is to SAVE the GOP/RNC and remake them.

To that idea I say: BULL SHIT!!

After having *slept on it* and after giving it MUCH thought, screw the GOP, the RNC and all the asshat RINOs that have ruined it…

It’s time to rebuild and on that point I WILL NOT back up or concede… I didn’t ruin the Dems, I didn’t make the Dems go stupid and go off the chart on LIBBER issues, but I am old enough to remember when being a Dem was a GOOD thing. When it wasn’t, we all became Repubs, that was Mr. Reagan at work.

Now, the Repubs are OFF the reservation, so, where do we turn?? Back to the Dems?? Not me!!

It’s time to take this to a new level, and an Independent, 3rd party, 100% Conservative, America 1st, strict adherence to the U.S. constitution party is the only way I am going to go…

No more asshat LIBBERS, no more asshat Dem-Lite, no more faux conservatives. NEVER settle for the lesser of the evils again folks, it’s up to YOU!!

And by God if people can’t get off their asses and work to save this nation, if they aren’t willing to venture into uncharted waters and help form a REAL party of 100% Conservatives, then we are at an impasse and America is suffering a not so slow death because of it…

Tea Party Economics

Some analysts have made the case that Americans are not overtaxed (at the federal level) and that therefore the protests were not justified. But this misses the point. Government spending is exploding, with the Congressional Budget Office projecting $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next 10 years. People know that this spending represents future taxes.

Here is an interesting set of facts. If the government increased the top tax rate from the current rate of 35% to 100% (yes, that's right 100%), it would only collect an extra $400 billion this year. In other words, confiscating all the income that is currently taxed at 35% would not raise enough revenue to cover any of the annual deficits projected in the next 10 years. There is no way that tax hikes on the rich alone can pay for proposed spending in the current budget.

In addition, state and local taxes are going up, with at least 10 states planning on hiking taxes. And promised future spending on Social Security and health care must also be paid for. Under the Obama administration's budget, federal government spending in the next 10 years will average 24% of GDP, almost triple what it was back in the 1930s. As a result, when we add together today's taxes and expected future taxes, Americans will face a bigger tax burden than at any time in history.

Meanwhile, the government is taking over private-sector companies, printing massive amounts of new money and interfering in the free market. And it doesn't help that this has happened while many government officials are running into trouble over not paying their own taxes, which undermines the Obama administration's call for the average taxpayer to sacrifice for the greater good.

In the end, the Tax Day Tea Parties are a very interesting case study for public choice theory. Whether or not they suggest a shift in the political landscape is another issue. If government continues to grow and cost more, we would expect to see more spontaneous voter response.

Taxed Enough Already

This is it folks, THIS is where it starts. I am FED UP with the *If YOU didn't vote for McCain* BS, it's time for real ideas, real issues, not *what if* and *if only*...

Some people seem to think that anyone not voting for Gramps McLame gave Obama the election, and that is a crock of pure BS! All the 3rd party and write in votes combined would NOT have kept Obama OUT of the Oval Office.

Some folks say as 3rd party isn't viable, that too is a crock of BS, a viable 3rd party, a CONSERVATIVE 3rd party, is the best hope this nation has. The 2 party system is antiquated, and let's face it, are there ANY discernable differences between the DNC and the RNC?

America is in a dangerous position. There are no discernable differences in the political parties running this nation. Other than their given names, it’s often impossible to identify the players without a game card. We have 2 U.S. Senators from Texas that have an (R) behind their names, that (R) stands for RINO. Our U.S. Senators voted FOR the socialization of America, they both voted FOR the 1st bailout, doing so against the express wishes of their constituents.

We need folks that want to contribute, not just see their name on another blog list. If you are serious, if you have something to say, if you are fed up and feel like you have been TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY, IF you are serious about making the TEA Party a real and viable force in the political theater, this is the place for you.
