Mr. Obama is an arrogant man. At least, that is how he is perceived. As an arrogant person myself, I am inclined to find any other arrogant person to be, most assuredly, more arrogant than me. So naturally, I don't like him.
I have a chronic disease, which has hospitalized me in excess of eighty times since the late 1960's. During all those visits to hospitals, I have met some of the most arrogant people on God's green earth. Most of them have been doctors.
I have learned, over the years, that arrogance is employed by some as a facade, a cover, if you will, for their own insecurity. Sure, it is often used to cover incompetence, but I dare say more often the short-coming is plain old insecurity.
There are rare occasions when arrogance is born of factual superiority. In other words, the arrogant person is, in fact, superior in one field of endeavor, or other. But as I said -- that is rare.
I am a southerner, a "Dixican" (southern conservative republican), so I have learned to live with the sobriquet "racist." Much as black Americans hate the "N" word,southerner Americans hate the "R" word. But we deal with it mostly by considering the source of the epithet, and we move on.
But every now and again, it rankles.
Most of the time I could not care less what anyone thinks of me. A "thin-skinned" commentator doesn't last very long.
Now. Having said all the above, there is an article by Jesse Washington entitled "Does racial bias fuel criticism of Obama," published recently by the AP as an analysis, that "pinged" my anger center.
The article begins ... "Is it because he's black?
The
question of whether race fuels opposition to President Barack Obama has
become one of the most divisive topics of the election. It is sowing
anger and frustration among conservatives who are labeled racist simply
for opposing Obama's policies and liberals who see no other explanation

A tad deeper into Washington's article is a quote from Susan Glisson, director of the Institute for Racial Reconciliation at the University of Mississippi: "We're at a tipping point, But I don't know which way we're going to tip."
Washington says Glisson " ... knows that many conservatives disagree with Obama solely because of his policies." Then there is "implicit bias." According to Washington's article implicit bias(es) is/are prejudice(s) people don't even know they have.
Washington quotes Gail Christopher, vice president of program strategy for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation who says: "Our history has created this unconscious bias. Now we need to create safe places to discuss and educate people about unconscious bias, where we are not blaming and shaming them."

Up to this point in the article I'm doing just fine, thank you. But then Washington quotes a white Democratic National Convention delegate as saying: "Every time they say, 'We want our country back,' I know what that means." (Same source as above) THAT GOT TO ME!
Two things:
One: Racism is when ninety-six percent of the black community votes for a man for President just because the color of his skin is the same as theirs.
Two: When I say "I want my country back!" I mean I want my country reclaimed from the socialist/communists supporting Obama and his socialist/communist/Marxist agenda.
Look. I don't care if the President was an albino white guy. I disagree with his politics -- period. His race doesn't have thing to do with it. At least -- it didn't -- until the same folks who shouted from the rooftops (when he was elected) that America had entered a "post racism" era reversed themselves and began shouted "racism" and pointing fingers at all of us who disagree with Obama's political philosophy.
Only a simple-minded fool would have ever imagined America had entered a post-racism era. That will never happen so long as there exists more than one race of people on the planet. Harsh -- but true.
Yes, there are a some people, quite a lot, actually, who do not like Obama, both black and white. Conservative black folks, I suspect, don't like him much, either. Are they racists?
Yes, I want my country back. I want it rescued from the people who believe that because I dislike President Obama I am a racist. They are clearly deluded and have no business trying to run my country.
I mentioned arrogance above. Arrogance is toxic in politics and Mr. Obama does exude, in my opinion, presumptuous arrogance. It is perceived by many as a form of non-verbal boasting. As Dizzy Dean used to say: "It ain't bragging -- if you can do it." Mr. Obama has proven HE CAN'T DO IT.
