Taxes Aren't the Only Way the Government Screws You

Obama to announce auto mileage, emissions rules; Cost consumers extra $1,300 per vehicle... First Standard for Greenhouse-Gas Emissions by Vehicles...
TARGETS '42 MILES PER GALLON'...

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's new fuel and emission standards for cars and trucks will save billions of barrels of oil but are expected to cost consumers an extra $1,300 per vehicle by the time the plan is complete in 2016. Obama on Tuesday planned to announce the first-ever national emissions limits for vehicles, as well as require an overall or industry average fuel efficiency standard at 35.5 miles per gallon.

Oh the cost of saving our planet from a fictional catastrophe. Ever wonder why American car companies are failing? It's ridiculous standards like these. Ever wonder why American cars are growing increasingly gutless? It's because they run on watch batteries now instead of Hemis.

As far as taking more of our money goes, I've had more than one person tell me that they don't really care about taxes, because they make so little, they don't end up paying much anyway. I know others that voted for Obama because he claimed he was going to cut taxes for the middle class. But guess what folks? Income tax isn't the only tax out there, and taxes aren't the only way the government gives you the old shaft.

If Obama gets his way, and he will, you will pay an average of $1300 more for your new car. Don't want to buy American and pay more? No problem, the auto companies will continue to swim in red ink, the Federal Government will claim they are still too big to fail, and they will give them more tax money. It's a vicious circle of over regulation, falling profits, and government interference.

Not gonna buy a car? Not paying income tax? No problem. What about Federal gasoline tax? Federal sales tax? Death tax? Increased energy rates because of cap and trade? Taxes on your retirement accounts? Alternative Minimum Tax? U.S. capital gains tax? Corporate income tax? U.S. estate tax? U.S. excise tax (includes taxes on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages)? Federal unemployment tax? FICA tax? Generation Skipping Tax? Gift tax? IRS penalties? Telephone federal excise tax? You get the idea.

My point is, you will pay heavily, even if your income is not taxed. That is why it is so important that you get involved, and let your local representatives know they should take any more of your money. That is why you should help elect officials that are fiscally conservative and responsible.
